The
25th Party Convention has ended in an unusual manner: as delegates
across the country could not attend the congress together due to the pandemic,
adoption of resolutions were made by a written ballot. The neoliberal politics
has deteriorated the social rights and human dignity. Our activities to recover
them face a critical phase.
LET’S
BUILD UP TRUST AMONG US THROUGH STRUGGLES!
The
biggest objective of our activities during the summer and autumn seasons lies
in our preparedness to fight in the general election to come following
dissolution of the parliament and to win in the electoral campaigns.
It
is sheer vulnerability of the Japanese society that the new coronavirus
disaster has disclosed. The weakness is consequences of the 30-year-strong-long
neoliberal policies, in which gaining the maximum profits is superior to the
human rights.
The
same stance reflects in the today’s measures taken by the Abe government to cope
with the pandemic. Simultaneously are seen lameduck phenomena of the
administration. People feel profound anxiety, fearing of very survival. People’s
simple sense of insecurity must be integrated concretely into the politics. Clashing
with the government’s plan is necessary to change the society.
Change
politics through general election
An
extraordinary amount of evils and illicitness of the administration have come
out. The Abe government, however, still exists, threatening people’s freedoms
and the rights to survive. An overwhelming number of ruling lawmakers maintain its
continued existence.
For
this very reason it is vital for us to fight in the coming general election.
Incidentally, holding the Olympics is almost impossible at the moment, though
the Prime Minister has taken initiative to host the event in Tokyo. If the prospect gets plausible, the
ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) could not cope with elections. Therefore,
it is estimated that the premier may decide to dissolve the parliament to have a
general election this autumn.
Even
the prime minister’s idea to reduce the consumption tax rate is rumored: he may
use this tactic to break up the Diet. The ruling elite do everything they want
in order to maintain status quo, and, in particular, Premier Abe adheres to a strategy
to amend the constitution. That cannot be overlooked.
Organize
core of opposition bloc against neo-liberalism
The
ruling bloc of the LDP and the Komeito has regarded necessary public service
budgets as a cost, and it has targeted them on the administrative level to be
cut down. The scheme has been so invisible that only today it is evidently seen
in the field of sanitation and healthcare.
Amid
the epidemic increased unstable employment conditions have been revealed: once
workers lose a job, they cannot afford to live. In addition to the fact, severer
job liquidation will come soon, judging from the recent economic circumstances.
The ruling bloc considers their election victory may be uncertain. Distrusts to
politics are extensive. Fortunately enough, an opposition camp surrounding the
Constitutional Democratic Party can be united on a platform to overcome
neo-liberal policies.
Recover
human dignity!
Electoral
polices must include, first, removal of poverty and anxiety, which are deeply rooted
in disparities and inequalities. They must reflect demands to recover human
dignity, a concrete request of people, or in other words, establishing a public
support system. Financial endorsement and taxation policies are integral, too.
United
efforts among opposite political parties and civic groups as well as labor
unions are crucial. Their honest commitment is highly needed.
The
New Socialist Party seeks for genuine unity in the workplaces and communities
as a members’ duty.
Let’s
build up trust among us in the struggles!
Let’s
do the best, relying on the current opportunity!
